If you, like me, are the lucky owner of the Apple Watch, you know that it’s an amazing piece of technology that is capable of doing many things. However, did you know that you can turn it into a fashion statement?!
I got my Apple Watch Sport as a Christmas gift from my lovely hubby. It’s a 38mm model that came with silver aluminium case and white sport band. When I got the watch, the choices of standard bands the sport model came with were quite limited. However, Apple is constantly updating and expanding its range of colors, styles and materials suitable for any taste and budget.
Given my personality, I love to change things up and make them reflect my individual style, playing with various combinations between watch straps, cases and faces. With endless choices, it has become my major fashion accessory.
I recommend 3 major ways to customize an Apple Watch:
1. Changing watch strap
This is relatively easy and simple. Nowdays, in addition to the Apple itself, there are lots of companies that make straps for Apple Watch in different colors and materials (silicone, nylon, leather, Milanese mesh, etc.) and you can find a wide range on ebay, Amazon and other websites.
Here is my selection of watch straps. I have also ordered one in red so the collection will grow even further!
Black leather strap goes well with work wear and evening pieces like this metallic cardi.
2. Changing watch case
Again, many companies make Apple Watch cases in different colors, shapes and out of different materials (metal, plastic). So for example, if your watch came in silver color, you can change it to black, rose gold or any other color by changing the case. Just be aware that the case will not cover watch crown and side buttons.
I chose this case in champagne gold as an alternative.
3. Changing watch face
Personally, for me this is most fun part of customizing my Apple Watch. There are so many things you can do to change it up. Watch my step-by-step guide for some tips and inspiration.
Now that you have seen how easy it is, check out my ideas on how to use your own photos and publicly available artwork to change Apple Watch faces.
I took this photo at Jean Paul Gaultier’s fashion exhibit and love it!
You can easily turn your favorite artwork into a watch face. I added Klimt’s The Kiss to the library of my watch faces.
van Gogh’s Starry Night, anyone?
This was a photo I took at the recent Chinese lantern festival. I love the colors and how they match my dress.
There are days I need a bit of Yayoi Kusama in my life!
Did you know you can take a photo of your own sweatershirt and use it as a pattern for a watch face? I did!
Even a photo of my wedding bouquet made it on my watch! Goes well with flower prints.
Love black-and-white fashion photography. Laetitia Casta and Choupette make a perfect combination.
I wanted sunflowers to match my sweatshirt by Louise Gray and I got them! By van Gogh again.
Take a photo of your favorite fashion spread in a magazine and use it as a funky watch face.
